Another day another quilt

Today I have completed the small wall hanging portrait of my Dad, which I commenced a month ago in a workshop with Hollis Chatelain. I am quite pleased with the result  and know where I could improve it, but will reserve that for the next one – lol! don’t think I want to unpick and redo at this point, just learn from the mistakes and move on…..

here is a photo of the finished quilt.

Catch up weekend

Yesterday was a day spent catching up with finishing some quilts I had started in workshops. The first is a wall hanging started in Pam Hill’s workshop run by Queensland QUilters Inc – there was considerable amounts of homework but it was really worth it all . Now finished, it is to go to my sister in NZ.

This quilt designed by Pam Hill, was an exercise in machine applique and quilting, and covered many techniques from start to finish including a piped binding.

The second quilt I completed was this one started in Hollis Chatelain’s workshop – although I am considering adding some more quilting lines to the face and arm…..

Recent workshops I have attended

Just spent two days last week at a Sandra Meech workshop – a couple of pages in progress/maybe finished ….

The week before this I was in a Hollis Chatelain workshop  – that was also fun but much more demanding – we were dye painting on fabric and that was not easy! but here are my meagre efforts – before stitching…..

Bach beat

My latest work has been somewhat an obsession… the old family bach. Still unfinished, it keeps growing something like the way it did in the 1950’s… more or less to scale, and quilted. It’s a 3D challenge that has caught the imagination of my family….
