Art – Composition exercises

Went to my first Composition lesson yesterday with Carol Beckx and it was a great morning, small class but fun – next week we expand on what we learned this week and start a painting…. Image

These are all parts drawn from Carol’s photograph of a Textiles shop in Singapore. I am looking forward to doing lots more of these using my own photos – the idea being to help me to see the dark and light areas within a scene, in order to depict it in the most interesting way  – whether that be a whole scene or just a small and abstracted portion of it. It’s quite an exciting prospect. Finding the time and the discipline to stick at it is as ever, the hardest part. But to make the classes worthwhile this is what I am focussing on this week with my artistic endeavours.

  1. Hi Sue, no, but not far. Carol lives in Mcdowall, but the classes are at Deagon at Arthouse Northside (our local art materials supplier and picture framer). See the link for Carol in my links list.
