So the Queensland Craft and Quilt Fair and QLD Quilt Show were brilliant (As usual!!)
My congratulations to all the wonderful Queensland Quilters who freely give their time and effort to put the Quilt Show together – many many dedicated women there who do an incredible job from the initial planning at the beginning of the year – sorting out categories, quilt dimensions, Sponsorship; making of and the organisation of valuation of the raffle quilts, Art Union tickets, sales and return of tickets and books, and co ordinating things like drop off points, white glove rosters, discount tickets, judges, transporting the judges and quilts to judging day and back again, Quilt Show layout plans, set up, catering, guest displays, show layout, ribbons and certificates, Artist statement tags, numbers, prize presentations and ensuring that each winner receives her prize and due congratulations; organisation of special displays and demonstrations – all the way through to the final pull down. ALL of these things take more than just a full week at the actual show from working out the floor plan the day before set up to the final vacation of the premises – there are things like white glove laundering and collection and laundering of the orange shirts to deal with after everyone else has collapsed from their day or days viewing and shopping!! It’s no mean task, that is for sure, and takes many hands to bring it about each year.
And, I was one of the lucky winners with a First prize for this quilt: Professional, Mixed techniques. It is a block of the month design by Lesley McConnell of Faeries in My Garden called “Sweet Valentine” . I entitled my version “LOVE NEVER FAILS”
Many thanks to Wacky Jacky’s for the fabulous voucher and to QQ Inc for my prize!
