These feathered folk will soon be out of the studio and on their way to new environs… with just one more to complete, the set of 12 will shortly be hanging on my client’s wall! I have had such fun making these 8” square textile works… next up, some bigger works and barely a bird in sight! I say that because while I intend not to include any birds, you just never know when one might sneak in…..
A few months ago, I was invited by Spectrum Textile Arts to participate in their exhibition, “Journeys” to be held at Gallery 107 in Dalby through the summer, from mid November through to mid January. Since I was already working towards the next Reddy Arts Textile Group’s 2017 Exhibition to be held at Pine Rivers Art Gallery, initially planned for around July/August, that seemed feasible and I would have a body of work upon which to draw for Dalby. However, Reddy Arts Exhibition “Talking Points” was then unfortunately rescheduled to coincide with the Dalby exhibition. Because of the earlier planning glitches with the Moreton Bay Regional Council and PRAG, when the Reddy Arts Group thinking they were not going to be exhibition in 2017 after all, had organised a second exhibition “From Raw Beginnings” in Redcliffe at the Cultural Centre in March 2018. Closely following that, another group of which I am a member, Textile Art Group, is also holding their next exhibition in the Cultural Centre in May 2018… Add to all of this, an invitation from Queensland Quilters to be their featured quilt artist at the 2017 Queensland Quilt Show 4th – 8th October! It will be held in conjunction with the Craft and Quilt Fair . I will be demonstrating two sessions daily 10.30 am – 12 pm and 1.30pm within in the Quilt Show itself – please do drop by and say hello!
Somehow I think that I will be rather busy making all kinds of new work in order to not be repeat showing the same old hat!
But wait, here is a wee preview of my latest work – new pieces for Dalby: they are 8″ square, there will be six of them, and they will be for sale.
